Christmas Baking

I typically don't do a lot of baking during the holidays because frankly, we don't need it around the house.  But I do like to make some cookies to pass out to the neighbors.  This year I used this recipe for Texas sheet cake cookies and they were SO good!  Hopefully the neighbors liked them.

I also made jars of Russian Tea Mix for friends.  Growing up my mother always made this to have during the winter months.  Every time I make myself a cup it smells like my childhood.

Russian Tea Mix

1 cup powdered Tang
1/2 cup powdered lemonade
1/4 cup unsweetened instant tea
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.

Combine all ingredients.  Store in airtight container.
Put 2 tablespoons of mix into cup and add hot water.

Senior Prom and Graduation

Despite all my protests Madison just had to graduate from High School.  I wasn't ready but it happened anyway!  Senior Prom was magical and she had a great time.  We are all very proud of the wonderful young woman she is becoming.

2nd Annual Boys Road Trip to Spring Training

Sock Yarn Projects

As I have mentioned before, I love buying sock yarn.  Especially self striping sock yarn.  I usually buy it with the intention of actually using it for socks, but sometimes the yarn just doesn't want to be socks!  I have two nice baskets full of sock yarn.   So I decided to start using it for a couple of projects that I love.

A Sock Yarn Scarf
I've seen plenty of shawls made from scrap sock yarn, but decided for myself I would just make a scarf by creating a tube of scraps.  I'll just seam the ends flat and put a nice fringe or edging of some sort and call it good.

A Sock Yarn Blanket
I have seen this blanket on Pinterest, Ravelry, all over the internet really.  At first I thought that it sounded crazy!  Then, when you realize that the pattern is a simple memorization, there's no joining seams, and that I didn't have to impose any deadlines on myself to finish it, it seemed like the perfect project.

This time of year I spend a lot of time at baseball practice fields/games and both of these projects are great for throwing in my bag and working on while on the go.

Thing One/Thing Two hats

My friend is about to become a grandmother of twins!  A boy and a girl.  I am working on crib blankets to match their baby beds.  I saw these hats on Pinterest and had to make them.
